Chickpea Harira

Total Time: 6 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 6 hrs

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried garbanzo beans
  • 8 cups water
  • 3 diced tomatoes
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 6 black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • salt
  • olive oil
  • parsley
  • cilantro
  • lemon juice
  • yogurt
  • hardboiled egg
  • cumin
  • salt

Recipe

  • 1 rinse and sort through the chickpeas for any debris.
  • 2 place all ingredients in the crockpot.
  • 3 cover and cook 6-8 hours or until chickpeas are tender.
  • 4 garnish each bowl with olive oil and lemon juice and your choice of remaining garnishes.
