Angel Food Bars 1965

Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup room temperature butter
- 3 whole eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 (12 ounce) box vanilla wafers, crushed
- 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Recipe
- 1 cream 1/2 cup of the butter and granulated sugar well.
- 2 beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- 3 add the wafer crumbs and coconut.
- 4 mix all well.
- 5 pat into a 10 x 15 inch cookie sheet.
- 6 bake 325 for 20 to 25 minutes.
- 7 combine remaining ingredients brown sugar, last 1/2 cup butter, and the pecans in a saucepot.
- 8 mix well, stirring, and boil for three minutes.
- 9 pour over the bars while warm and spread evenly.
- 10 place under broiler about four inches below, and broil until bubbly.
- 11 remove.
- 12 cut into 50 bars.
