Butterscotch Squares

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup brown sugar (250 ml)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (50 ml)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla (10 ml)
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (175 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (5 ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (1 ml)
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts (75 ml)
  • 1/3 cup sweetened flaked coconut (75 ml) or 1/3 cup shredded coconut (75 ml)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 350.
  • 2 beat together the egg, sugar, butter and vanilla until smooth. blend in the flour, baking powder and salt. stir in the walnuts and coconut.
  • 3 spread the mixture evenly in the pan. bake 20-25 minutes, until light golden. cool completely in the pan on the cooling rack.
