Black 'n' Brownies

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour, divided
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup flaked coconut
- 1 1/4 cups butter, softened, divided
- 4 tablespoons milk, divided
- 1 (1 ounce) unsweetened chocolate square
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla, divided
- 3/4 cup walnuts, divided
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
- 2 grease a 9 by 13 dish.
- 3 combine 3/4 cup flour, sugar, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- 4 stir in oats and coconut.
- 5 melt 2/3 cup butter and add to mixture.
- 6 add 2 tablespoons milk and mix well.
- 7 press into dish and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- 8 remove from oven and reduce temperature to 325°f.
- 9 melt 1/3 cup butter with the chocolate.
- 10 in a large bowl, combine eggs, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
- 11 add melted chocolate and mix well.
- 12 add 3/4 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt, and mix well.
- 13 chop walnuts.
- 14 stir in 1/2 cup walnuts.
- 15 spread evenly over first layer and bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.
- 16 cool.
- 17 meanwhile combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- 18 spread over cooled brownies.
- 19 sprinkle 1/4 cup walnuts over the frosting.
- 20 serve immediately or store in refridgerator.
